Home Run Fun Volunteers Sponsors About The Run About Rett
Dear family, friends, and members of our Southern California business community,
We are pleased to announce that we are organizing San Diego's 3rd Annual “Run for Rett” to raise research dollars for Rett syndrome, to be held on November 4, 2006. We turn to you for support. We are involved with the Run for Rett because our daughter, Chelsea, has Rett syndrome. Rett syndrome is a severe developmental disorder, which affects Chelsea's ability to walk, talk, and have purposeful use of her hands. Chelsea's only means of communication are her eyes and body language, which we are happy to say she uses to the maximum of her ability to let us know how she feels.
There are thousands (prevalence rate of 1:10,000 to 1:23,000 live female births) of young girls and women affected with Rett syndrome. It is our desire to help in every way we can. So we turn to you and your company to ask that you help us help the girls who cannot speak for themselves. Only through successful fund-raisers can research be continued. We hope research can be advanced to the point where Chelsea, age 14, could one day walk, talk, and use her hands even for the most ordinary things like dressing and feeding herself. What a miracle that would be!
Thank you for taking the time to read this letter. Any help you can give would be greatly appreciated. If you have any questions or comments, please contact me: Veleria
Sincerely,
Veleria Fabiszak
